Instrument Rating
A private pilot can fly only when the weather permits under the Visual Flight Rules (VFR). To be able to fly in clouds and low visibility you need to obtain the Instrument rating- flying solely by reference to cockpit instrument.
During the instrument training you will learn:
• How to fly instrument approaches.
• Holding patterns.
• Acquire a more in depth knowledge of weather.
• New maneuvers.
• IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) regulations.
• And more.
This is definitely one of the most challenging and interesting phases.
Basic requirements including:
• Read, speak, write and understand the English language.
• Obtain at least 3rd class FAA medical certificate. Contact us for a list of doctors in your area.
• Must be 17+ years old to obtain Private Pilot License.
• Must hold at least a private pilot license in the category and class of aircraft for which the rating is sought.
• 50 hours of cross-country flight time as pilot in command.
• 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight time.
• Pass FAA Instrument Rating written exam.
• Pass the Instrument Rating oral and practical exam.
